Privacy policy

Short version: the only thing we ask you for is an email address, and only if you want the newsletter. We don't sell it, rent it, or hand it to the brands we write about.

What we collect

Your email address, if you sign up for The Teddy Letter. That's stored with the date you signed up and which page you signed up from, so we know which guides readers actually find useful.

Standard server logs, which include IP address, browser type and the page requested. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse.

Aggregate traffic counts: how many people read a page, roughly where they came from. We don't build profiles and we don't run advertising trackers.

Affiliate links

Links to Amazon and other retailers carry a tracking code so the retailer knows the visit came from us. That code tells them we referred you. It doesn't tell us who you are or what you bought. Amazon's own privacy policy governs anything that happens after you click.

Cookies

We don't set advertising cookies. Retailers you click through to will set their own, and network-level cookies may be set by our host to block bot traffic.

Unsubscribing and deletion

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately. If you'd rather your address be deleted outright instead of marked unsubscribed, email us and say so. We'll remove it and reply to confirm.

Children

This site sells nothing to and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your email, the date above changes and we say so in the newsletter.
